The International governing body of badminton is called the (BWF) Badminton World Federation, which was founded in 1934 under the name of the International Badminton Federation and was composed of only nine member nations ( Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. Now The BWF has grown to accommodate 165 member nations around the world. With the BWF we find special honors are given to not only players but also to umpires, sponsors and others who have made a mark or left a special mark on the sport. Among the honors bestowed we will find: Hall of Fame, Herbert Scheete Trophy, Distinguished Service, Meritorius Service, Certificate of Commendation and the Eddy Choong Player of the year. We are also finding more Teens entering the world of Badminton as a result of this illustrious group of individuals. The find that with this grouping comes a special camaraderie of friends and family that extend beyond the bonds of the more familiarity ties of Mother, Father, Sister, Brother and Friend.
The ties these Teens develop while in the championship groups of development, training and competition are very strong and follow them thru to adulthood, giving way to lifelong friendships which are important to the development of our children socially and psychology. These ties help in determining our teen’s growth patterns and Badminton requires a lot of patience, practice and gives them a sense of accomplishment that many teens will not find in the streets or neighborhoods.
